RN members can pursue a Master of Science in Nursing, for which the Fund pre-pays the tuition. Classes are offered both as off-campus cohorts and through the various nursing schools of SUNY and CUNY colleges and Rutgers University in New Jersey. Eligible members can also participate in distance learning (on-line) programs.
In addition, RNs may earn a post-Master's certificate in Nursing Education from Lehman College.
Employed RNs: Leadership and Retention Program
The RN Leadership and Retention Project improves leadership and retention among RNs by:
- Training preceptors to enhance the experience of new nurses during their clinical practice;
- Teaching experienced nurses to mentor new nurses;
- Orienting new nursing graduates and internationally trained nurses to enter, adapt to and succeed in the U.S. healthcare sector; and
- Strengthening the leadership skills of all nurses.
