National Benefit Fund Retirees
Age 65 With 10 Years of Service — in New York City or Nassau County
Eligible 1199SEIU retirees living in New York City must enroll in the 1199SEIU HIP VIP Medicare Program. This program coordinates your medical coverage with Medicare, providing you with access to HIP's provider network with no co-pays for primary care doctor visits and only a $10 co-pay for specialist visits. Inpatient hospital care, surgery and anesthesia are covered in full.

Age 65 With 10 Years of Service — outside New York City or Nassau County
Your Benefit Fund retiree health coverage is coordinated with Medicare. Medicare pays for your care first, and the Benefit Fund covers supplemental benefits, such as your Medicare hospital deductible, co-insurance and reserve days, and 50% reimbursement of your Medicare Part B Premium.

Age 62 Through 64 With 20 Years of Service
You are fully covered for doctor visits when you visit participating Fund providers and many other medical services, such as surgery and anesthesia. When you become eligible for Medicare, you will also become eligible for the same retiree health benefit package as members who retire at age 65.

Retirement Due to Permanent Disability With 10 Years of Service
You are fully covered for doctor visits when you visit participating Fund providers and for many other medical services, such as surgery and anesthesia. When you become eligible for Medicare, you will also become eligible for the same retiree health benefit package as members who retire at age 65.

However, if you live in New York City and are eligible for Medicare, you may be able to enroll in the 1199SEIU HIP VIP Medicare Advantage Plan and have access to primary care visits at no cost and only a $10 co-pay for specialist visits.
